SILVEr SNEAKERS(R)
SILVERSNEAKERS is designed for older adults looking to incorporate low-impact resistance training into their everyday routines. This inclusive program emphasizes coordination, balance, and posture to assist in everyday activities.
BALANCE AND STABILITY
The Balance and Stability fitness class incorporates gentle strengthening exercises, tai chi forms, and yoga poses to help participants improve their strength and mobility as it relates to balance and stability. Getting down on the floor is not required. The class is designed to accommodate a wide range of abilities with plenty of options offered for each pose or move so that participants can choose the level of intensity they want to exercise at during each class. Participants have the option of sitting in a chair for the entire class or doing a combination of seated and standing exercises.
YOGA FOR EVERY BODY/GENTLE YOGA
These classes encourage you to show up as you are and experience the kind of practice that you need on any given day. We explore how using props can make yoga accessible for everyone, regardless of age, size, fitness level, strength or flexibility. The class can be done seated on the mat the entire time or a combination of seated on the mat and standing, and chairs are often available for those days when you’d rather not be down on the floor. We take plenty of time to move into and out of poses, and multiple options are offered for each pose so that everyone has a chance to “find their yoga.”
YOGA FOR LARGER BODIES
You can experience the benefits of yoga regardless of the size of your belly or the shape of your hips. If you identify as fat, thick, curvy, or plus-sized, this class will show you how you can practice yoga with the body you have now, today. You don't have to be thin, flexible, or athletic to experience the benefits of yoga. Yoga is for EVERY body.
CHAIR YOGA
Did you know that you can practice yoga while seated in a chair? This class is perfect for seniors, disabled folks, folks using mobility devices, those with injuries and chronic illnesses, and yoga practitioners who are interested in exploring how bringing a chair into their practice can offer options and possibilities. Students have the option of staying seated for the entire class or standing for some poses while using the chair for balance and support.
